Discover Taqueria Catrinas

Walking into Taqueria Catrinas for the first time at 2515 Rosemeade Pkwy Unit 115, Carrollton, TX 75007, United States, the smell of grilled meats and warm corn tortillas hits you before you even reach the counter. I stopped in on a weekday afternoon expecting a quick bite, but what I found felt more like a neighborhood gathering spot where regulars greet the staff by name and newcomers are guided patiently through the menu. The space is casual and bright, built for comfort rather than flash, and that sets the tone for everything that follows.

The menu leans confidently into traditional Mexican street food, and it’s clear there’s a system behind how things are prepared. Tacos come out fast but never rushed, each built on tortillas that are clearly made from scratch. I watched the cooks press, cook, and stack tortillas in a steady rhythm, a process many Mexican culinary experts, including those featured by the Mexican Culinary Institute, emphasize as essential to authentic flavor. Research from food science publications shows that fresh masa tortillas retain moisture and aroma better than pre-packaged alternatives, and that difference is obvious here from the first bite.

One visit, I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos, while another time I went heavier with a burrito and a side of rice and beans. Consistency stood out. The meat was seasoned deeply, not aggressively salty, and portions stayed generous across visits. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, repeat customers value consistency even more than novelty, and this spot clearly understands that. Reviews from locals echo the same point, often mentioning how the food tastes the same whether you visit on a quiet morning or during a busy dinner rush.

What really adds credibility is how the kitchen handles food safety and freshness. Texas Department of State Health Services guidelines recommend strict temperature control for meats and produce, and you can see that discipline in practice here. Ingredients are rotated quickly, and prep areas stay visibly clean. While diners don’t usually think about that while eating, it builds quiet trust, especially for families or anyone sensitive to food quality.

Beyond tacos, the menu includes familiar diner-style favorites like quesadillas, tortas, and breakfast plates that make this place popular early in the day. One server told me that many customers stop by after school drop-offs or before work because the breakfast tacos are fast and filling. That aligns with broader dining trends reported by industry groups, showing that neighborhood taquerias often double as morning diners in suburban Texas communities.

There’s also a clear sense that this is a family-owned operation. Conversations are easy, recommendations feel honest, and substitutions are handled without attitude. When I once asked about spice levels for a friend who doesn’t tolerate heat well, the staff suggested a milder salsa and explained how each one is prepared. That kind of transparency matters. Studies in hospitality management journals consistently link clear communication to higher customer satisfaction and stronger online reviews.

No restaurant is perfect, and during peak hours parking around the location can feel a bit tight, especially with nearby businesses sharing the lot. Service can also slow slightly when the line stretches toward the door, though accuracy never seems to suffer. Those small trade-offs are common in popular local spots and don’t outweigh the overall experience.

Taken together, the steady quality, honest preparation, and welcoming atmosphere explain why this Carrollton taqueria keeps earning positive reviews and repeat visits. It’s the kind of place where you come for a quick meal and end up staying longer than planned, not because you have to, but because it feels right.

  • Great flavors and great food without breaking the bank! The tacos are great and are all you really need to get. Would be a 5/5 just with the tacos! Their ingredients were fresh and flavorful and the accompanying dips and sauces were a great match. There was also a little complimentary mini taco that came out as an appetizer that was delicious. Unfortunately I made the mistake of also ordering chicken flautas which had dry, tough, and old chicken. Might be my fault for ordering more than just tacos but I think restaurants are responsible for what's on their menu, which is why it's a 4/5. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

  • The amount of meat they give you is 2/3 times more then the average restaurant. Birra tacos are great and the steak tacos. Looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

  • While this place is small, it is mighty. While you await you order, they serve complimentary tinga-chicken tostadas to everyone. Very generous and tasty. They are also on the menu. Because I liked the sample I ordered them. We had a large party and they were able to accommodate us. Service was good too. We will return as Bent Tree Bible Church is very conveniently located for our fellowship group.

  • These are the best tacos I have had in a while! They are delicious and big, so don’t order too many. They have many options and extra daily specials. The service is excellent, and they greet you with a smile. I'll be back soon.

  • Let me tell you something, ive traveled to every single corner of texas, this place used to be a food truck, but they know how to cook authentic, real food, straight out of a food truck, this place is THE BEST Taco place in Dallas BY FAR. honestly in texas. Fresh meat, fresh everything, all the way down to the pinto beans. Just perfect. I took my wife here on her birthday on a whim, we were treated so well too. The waitresses are kind and caring. Everyone here loves food just as much as I do. Made me happy and loved.

  • Phenomenal. The presentation is extraordinary. The food is delicious, full of flavor and could easily stand alone (without any sauce). The service is unparalleled. I have not felt this level of welcoming and kindness in any restaurant I've patroned. My family and I come with dietary hurdles and when we mentioned our needs, they did not bat an eye, and went above and beyond meeting our requests. This is a five star ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ restaurant on all levels and worth making it a regular place to dine.

  • This is the best food in DFW!!! hands down ; you won’t regret it. Everything is fresh and authentic. I’m from LA and this is the best food since we moved to Texas. We don’t want Mexican food unless it’s from here.
